How to Spot Human Trafficking

 

Trafficked person is under 18 and providing sexual services

Trafficked person has gaps in memory, providing inconsistencies in her/his story

Trafficked person exhibits signs of exhaustion, fear, distrust, shame, guilt, distrust, or vulnerability

Trafficked person is not free to come and go as she/he pleases

Trafficked person is in a relationship with someone who is abusive and dominating

Trafficked person exhibits signs of physical and/or sexual abuse, physical restraint, confinement, or torture

Trafficked person exhibits signs of emotional abuse

Trafficked person lives in overcrowded group housing

Trafficked person is in poor physical health and is not allowed to seek medical treatment (miscarriages, abortion, or other reproductive issues, beatings, etc.)

Trafficked person resides at worksite or at a location with high security

Trafficked person has the name of the trafficker tattooed on her/his body

Trafficked person is forced to work long and unusual hours with little to no rest or recreation, and earnings are withheld
